Notes from our July Team Huddle

Hello team! I wanted to thank those of you who were able to attend our 2nd team huddle this year! Saturday, July 24th was a great time of sharing, caring, and voting :)

Members in attendance were: Mellisa Pressley, Amy Zimmerman, Chris Harris, Susan Michels, Holly Maples, and guest presenters from Family Bridge

Secondary Team Reports:

Funeral Ministry - We are still in need of a funeral ministry coordinator

Community Resources - We have a new coordinator, Chris Harris, who will be meeting with community groups in which we want to partner with for various ministry efforts. She will also be maintaining our new community resource center located in the church office. This is an area where many types of resources and information is located for anyone needing assistance.

Care Coordinator Items:

The main thing we introduced was a free online system designed to help organize meals for someone who needs help. This is an amazing tool for the people in your life group. It can eliminate many calls and streamline multiple groups of people to meet one need.

Check out their website: http://www.takethemameal.com/ethemameal.com/

Ministry Team Items:

We were blessed to have Annie Heart present our team with information about Family Bridge.

Family Bridge is a homeless shelter for families with children in Hillsboro that faith communities have chosen to adopt as their outreach mission to serve homeless families. The support network is called an Interfaith Hospitality Network.

For much more information, visit their website: http://www.family-bridge.org/

After the presentation, we and the members of the Evangelism Team voted to participate in this homeless outreach. This would be in place of our previous involvement with the S.O.S. Shelter and would require us to feed dinner and host 3 families overnight for 1 week 4-5 times per year.

Chris Harris will act as the Brookwood Family Bridge coordinator and with further meet with Annie for scheduling and further steps.
